Villa Avocado is now also the site of North America’s first avocado biogas facility.

A major food label across North America, Villa Avocado was looking for a way to recover energy from their avocado oil processing wastes, as well as find a more responsible disposal method. The challenges for biogas production are:
the “pasta de aguacate”, or avocado paste, is a thick material with a total solids of 22%
Monofraction feedstocks will often have micronutrient imbalances that will need correction to optimize biogas production.
The facility is in a remote area of Mexico that is difficult to access.
Fitec’s line of high solids KV pumps are installed to move this thick amterial long distances and through multiple systems.
The biochemical composition of the feedstock is analysized to manufacture a custom nutrient solution to maintain optimum biological performance. Heating pumping and control systems were build in containers at headquarters in order to facilitate shipping and reduce installation time on site.
Operational since 2023, the waste from the oil processing facility is processed through the anaerobic digestion plant that converts waste into renewable energy, eliminates greenhouse gas emissions and reduces the energy consumption footprint of the production facility.
